Mitch
Beckman
resides in North Liberty with
his wife, Kristin, and their three young sons who are about to enter the Iowa
City public school system. Mitch has worked as a development officer for the
University of Iowa Foundation for nine years, raising major gifts on behalf of
the UI |

Tom
Casavant and his wife Karen have lived in
Iowa City for more than 25 years. Their three daughters are all graduates of
City High and their oldest daughter teaches High School Science in Minneapolis.
Dr. Casavant is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and at Iowa,
and Karen is a Physical Therapist Assistant |

Cecily
Gabel
works in sales at KWKB TV, the local CW affiliate. She and her husband, Scott
McGill, live in Coralville with their three sons. The oldest two, Cooper
and Drake, attend
Kirkwood Elementary. As a life long Iowa City resident, Cecily is a proud
graduate of the Iowa City school system. |

Lisa-Ann
Johnson and
her partner have lived in Iowa City for over 8 years. She completed her B.A.
and M.A. in Special Education at the University of Iowa and has been teaching in
the Iowa City School District for four years. Lisa-Ann currently teaches
students with multiple disabilities at West High School. She devotes her extra
time to organizations dedicated to working with students with special needs such
as the Iowa Special Olympics and Council for Exceptional Children. |

Stephen
Kuusisto
teaches in the creative nonfiction program at
the University of Iowa where he also holds a dual appointment in the
Carver College of Medicine in disability studies. |

Kristin Sheffield
has lived in Iowa City with her husband, Val, a scientist at U. of Iowa, for
almost 18 years. They are the parents of 6 children who attend (or have
graduated from) ICCSD schools. Currently a homemaker, Kristin has done legal
research for the American Bar Foundation, worked as the liaison director between
alumni and prospective students at University of Chicago, and owned her
own business, Creative Kids Dance and Gymnastics. |

Ed
Stone and his wife Mary are both
professors at the University of Iowa. They have lived in Iowa City for over
twenty years and have two children who have attended elementary, junior high,
and high schools in the ICCSD. |

Gary Whittington
works as an attorney for the
commercial real estate investment arm of AEGON/Transamerica, where his title is
Business Unit General Counsel. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop
with an MFA in poetry. He has a lifelong interest in poetry and foreign
languages. He is a transplanted Texan by way of New York City. His wife Lorraine
teaches fifth and sixth grade social studies at Hoover Elementary. His
son, Thomas, is a City High student, class of 2009. |

Wendy Luxenburg
is a graduate of the Iowa City school system. She currently lives in
Chicago where she works as the administrator of the Division of Dermatology at
Stroger Hospital of Cook County. She designed and maintains the COPE-Iowa.org
website. |
